Come to Kasempa

Kasempa Boma lies in the heart of North-Western Province, on the plateau between the Kabompo and Lunga rivers, roughly midway between Kaoma and Solwezi. It is a country of miombo woodland, clear rivers and open farming country — and it is the traditional capital of the Kaonde.

  • Kamusongolwa Hill — the granite hill above the boma where Jipumpu built his capital and turned back the Lozi in 1898.
  • Lukena, the Royal Palace — the seat of Senior Chief Kasempa, near Kasempa Boma. Visits are by prior arrangement with the Royal Secretariat.
  • Juba ja Nsomo — held on 6 June every year. Visitors and guests of the chiefdom are welcome; write ahead so we can receive you properly.
  • Getting here — by road from Solwezi or Mumbwa via the Kasempa turn-off on the Great North-West route.
